Lotus

The other day I walked to one of the back ponds near the school.   I like this area because two of the ponds are filled with lotus, and I have a small obsession with these beautiful flowers.  I cannot seem to take enough lotus flower pictures.  I keep waiting for the perfect shot, which might happen when it i raining...

Anyway, I was walking around when Bam (a post will come soon about Bam, my assistant and translator) came out to meet me.  She is always appearing to help, as she is constantly afraid I will fall or have a problem of some kind and she thinks she can prevent it from happening if she is there to help.

One of the school workers was pulling out the lotus pod and they showed me how, inside the pod, you can find the seed, which you can eat.  It is actually quite tasty!  I ate two pods myself and then had a steamed one at dinner.  What a pleasant surprise... Beautiful and delicious!
