Wat That Phanom, Wat Ranu Nakhon and Ranu Nakon School

On Saturday afternoon, after our lovely lunch, we spent time time touring around Nakhon Phanom.  This included a trip to two Wats, That Phanom and Ranu Nakhon.

Below you will see some pictures of this visit.  You will also see a close-up of the pagoda at That Phanom, which is over 1500 years old and has a bone from Buddha inside it, making it an important place for Buddhists to visit.  The circle part, where the flowers come from on the pagoda, represents the bone of the Buddha.

You can also see me ringing the bells, which is connected to a long life-- I think-- if you ring it loudly.

I also had a chance to visit Ranu Nakhon Secondary School, which is where Mr. Narong was the director before retiring (in Thailand you retire from education at 60 years old, unless they have special need for your services).  Mr. Narong's daughter is also currently an English teacher at the school and we had a chance to meet as well, which was very nice.
