Rubber Trees

Today Dr. Tony and Dr. Achara took me for a ride around their property. This included a ride to their nearby rubber farm.  I learned a great deal about how the rubber tree liquid is collected after cutting the tree.  Once the liquid is collected, it is mixed with a chemical that makes it pliable (instead of liquidly).

The trees are spread out over a large area and are harvested in a rotating basis.  Most of the harvesting occurs in the evening, and there are some small houses within the rubber trees for the workers to relax when needed.
